About Us

Flaming Acorn creates games that are wholesome–well, wholesome enough–cozy, inclusive, and that upend player expectation. We believe in growing our players’ and our own joy (especially our own!), by widening the world through curiosity and playfulness. We thank you for your interest and, to paraphrase the great Terry Pratchett, thank you for every time you spend your hard-earned* cash on our games.

In 2022 Flaming Acorn released Shell Break, a 2D platformer mini game that’s available to play on itch.io in your browser–no downloads needed. It’s short since it was made as part of a game jam, but players tend to find it addictive and enjoy the way it upends gamer expectations. Check it out while you wait for Villainville updates!

Meet our team

Like any self-respecting villain family, we’re growing our dev team from the family out. Want to be adopted into the team and join us in villainy? Sign up for our newsletter. We’ll announce new positions there first.

*If your cash is not hard-earned and would more easily be described as ill-gained, we still thank you…but appreciate your not telling us anything about the origins of said cash. We’re quite capable of finding our own trouble and have no desire to borrow yours!
